The beginning of a great adventure
It all started in 1963 when the young couple contracted a loan to purchase a small 9 bedroom chalet in Courchevel 1850. Michel took charge of the restaurant and Maryse the hotel.
On the road to success
After seven years of force and determination, Le Chabichou boasts 25 rooms and is awarded 2 stars in the hotel business. Although a very satisfactory reward, the Rochedy family has greater goals.
In 1975, a 3rd stage of development to create 41 rooms and suites at Le Chabichou is completed.
First star in the Michelin Guide
1979 is a specific year for the gastronomic restaurant awarded by its first Michelin Guide’s star. It became the first restaurant awarded by the Michelin Guide in Courchevel.
2 Michelin stars
In 1984 the reputation of the hotel is indisputable. It is however, time for the restaurant to climb the ranks. The Chef Michel Rochedy is awarded a 2nd star in the Michelin Guide for his gourmet restaurant, previously referenced in the “Bottin Gourmand” and “Gault et Millau” guide books.
The hotel upgraded
Thirty-five years after their arrival in Courchevel, the Rochedy’s hotel is awarded a 4th star.
Le Chabichou adorns a white mantle
Always on the lookout for trends, the family decided to give Le Chabichou a major facelift in stylish white washed wood, unique in Courchevel.
«Le Boulevard du Chabichou», a fixture in the 3 Valleys
Le Chabichou is now a landmark in Courchevel. The resort even named a ski slope, «Le boulevard du Chabichou». This famous run in the 3 valleys area guides skiers to this most renowned table.
30th anniversary of the second star Michelin
Le Chabichou celebrates the 30th anniversary of its second star in the Michelin Guide and renovates some of its rooms as well as 1000m2 carpet in the hallway and the gastronomic restaurant, wearing the famous “C” of le Chabichou.
